The cleanliness requirements for electronic products, e.g. imagers, sensors or PCB and electronics in general, are constantly increasing due to miniaturization and higher functionality. At the same time, the environmental compatibility of the chemicals moves more and more into focus.
CO2-snow jet cleaning can be an alternative cleaning method to wet chemical cleaning for PCBs or electronics. Within this method only high-purity compressed air and liquid CO2 are used as cleaning agent. The CO2 used in this process is a waste product from the chemical industry and is therefore just reused.
This presentation will show the cleaning principles of dry and environmental friendly cleaning with CO2-snow jet as well as examples from the production of electronic components, such as imagers or PCBs.
