Characteristic
Using Through-Glass Via (TGV) technology on a glass substrate, WG Tech has achieved an industry breakthrough with the first PM-driven, TGV glass substrate of direct-view display light plate (pitch:1.25), featuring double-sided copper circuits.
The primary challenges in developing PM-driven TGV glass substrate Mini/Micro LED technology included mastering large-scale via creation in glass substrates and developing techniques for sputtering thick copper layers onto glass. WG Tech has successfully overcome these hurdles, especially the TGV Through-Glass Via technology.
To reduce manufacturing costs in the Micro LED display industry, it is essential to decrease LED chip size. As chip sizes shrink towards the MicroLED scale, traditional PCBs become unsuitable due to their limitations. Consequently, glass substrates with thick copper, enabled by TGV technology, present the most viable solution for further miniaturization of MicroLED chips and enable to explore smaller pitch by using much smaller and cheaper LEDs.
Introducing the industry's first direct-view display module backplane employing a glass substrate, WG Tech's innovation stands out with its exceptional flatness, minimal warping, superior die bonding reliability, and reduced module seams.
A testament to this breakthrough is the 220-inch Micro LED ultra-high definition home cinema screen which collaborated with Ledman and launched on Oct. 25, 2023. Utilizing PM-driven and TGV glass substrate, this screen offers an astounding 3840Hz refresh rate, supports a brightness of 600 nits, and achieves a million-level dynamic contrast ratio. Furthermore, it delivers a 14-bit grayscale and covers 90% of the DCI-P3 color gamut, showcasing unparalleled visual fidelity and color accuracy.
The synergistic combination of WG Tech's TGV glass substrate and Ledman's patented COB packaging process revolutionizes the manufacturing of Micro LED displays, leading to significant cost reductions. Coupled with this, the high-performance PM driver ICs showcase outstanding performance in grayscale levels, refresh rate, low gray image quality, and energy efficiency. These technological advancements enable this Micro LED displays to be remarkably lightweight, ultra-flat, energy-efficient, and to offer superior color reproduction. This blend of top-tier display quality and cost-effectiveness makes them highly attractive in the market.
Furthermore, this product stands out by operating at lower temperatures compared to standard industry products, often below human body temperature. This unique feature establishes them as exceptional "cool screens," greatly enhancing the user experience and setting a new standard in display technology.
