Today, MAI is recognized as one of the top seven VR digital health companies by Boston Medtech. Their flagship VR medical training solutions, AcuMap™ and BodyMap™, are now integral to medical education at renowned institutions like Columbia University, New York University, UCLA, The University of Texas Health Science Center, Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and China Medical University and Hospital.
Anatomy is the cornerstone of medicine, requiring medical students to dedicate five days a week to class lectures and up to 3 hours daily in cadaver labs. In recent decades, cadaver-based education has faced numerous challenges, including reduced supply, fewer donations, rising student numbers, high costs, and increased demand from U.S. research institutions. These challenges have prompted tech companies to seek alternatives to traditional cadaver learning. At MAI, we provide medical students globally with an equal opportunity to engage with virtual cadavers for optimal residency preparation, regardless of economic or territorial conditions. Our virtual courses are designed to help students familiarize themselves with the procedures prior to entering cadaver labs. This approach prepares students for real dissections and fosters teamwork, respect for death, and empathy—qualities emphasized by Sakti Srivastava, Professor (Teaching) of Surgery (Anatomy) at the Stanford University School of Medicine.
